Berat is one of those places that you travel to a country for! Some may call it cliche, but its homes and windows deserve the reputation they have – it is a must-stop visit on anyone’s tour to Albania. The tour can begin in either Tirana or Durres and will leave at 9:00 from your hotel or wherever is most comfortable for you. We have set the itinerary below but it can be flexible. This place really has to be seen to be believed!
9:00 – Meet your guide and drive to Berat (from Tirana 1h45′; from Durres 1h15′)
11:00– Visit the Castle of Berat (over 2400 years old), some of the chapels, the houses with their beautiful architecture and the Onufri Museum
13:15 – lunch in one of the small family restaurants within the fortress – we will recommend a delicious traditional meal for you!
14:15 – Drive down to the lower neighborhoods of Berat for a walking tour. This will bring you to the Medieval Center (King’s Mosque, Halveti Teqe and Caravan Saraj), Mangalemi neighborhood and its small beautiful streets (make sure you are good at going uphill for a bit), the bridge of Gorica and the neighborhood of Gorica itself.
16:30 – drive back to Tirana or Durres. Drop off at the hotel.
We will operate this as a private or group tour. Private tours start from 89.0 euros/person and group tours (with a minimum 5 participants) start at 49.0 euros/person. The more people there are, the lower the price per person!
